Extraordinary Men (X-Men) Serving God, Each Other and Community. Community of men rising to the original call God had for humanity is to live an extraordinary life not because of our strength but that of Jesus Christ, and His extraordinary Grace. Genesis 1: 26 – 28; II Peter 1:3-4
Men are called to be leaders in their homes, workplaces and communities. Men are called to be servants and to commit their lives to the ongoing process of godliness. As brothers in Christ, we challenge each other to pursue the things of God with commitment and passion. We want men to grow in their faith in a community of acceptance and support, and so we have a variety of offerings to encourage men in their faith. “We proclaim Him, admonishing every man and teaching every man with all wisdom, so that we may present every man complete in Christ.” Colossians 1:28
There are three pillars to the activities of X-Men:
1. Serving God 2. Serving Each Other 3. Serving Community
Regular get together virtually or in person to get to know each other more, break bread and discuss topics pertinent to Men’s Living Life. Example of topics covered are: Extraordinary Living; Time alone with God; Witnessing at Work; King, Priest and Prophet; David’s Life; Discrimination and Men’s Health
Those feel called to music and singing are encouraged to join the X-Men Band who helps in the Praise & Worship at church but also to do outreach and minister in the greater Geneva area. Practice sessions are usually before the Sunday services.
The men stand ready to serve where needed in the community. Activities in Geneva include helping in house moving, cleaning of churches before and after events, serve at charity activities/events E.g. ‘Serve the city’ ministry involves packaging and distribution of foods to those in need.
As part of improving and maintaining good physical health, the men are engaged in regular group physical activity and sporting exercises consisting of Sunday Walks/runs, game of rugby, basketball etc. Families are welcome to join the activities!
On a yearly basis the men get together for reflective time with an inspiring speaker for a weekend away. It consists of a program with Speakers sharing inspiring messages with ministry as well as team bonding activities.
As part of our X-Men Hangouts and Retreats, Crossroads men get together regularly (at least 4 times a year) for a delicious X-men BBQ. Crossroads X-Men are among the best grillers in the greater Geneva Area and there is always more than enough food to share and get to know each other better!
